A Legacy of Public Service

Late Shri Laxman Yetala Shelke is the inspiration behind our commitment to community service and rural development. His decade of service as Sarpanch shaped our family’s understanding of selfless leadership and grassroots development.

The values he lived by—service, responsibility, honesty and compassion—continue to guide the work of Shahalakshya Charitable Trust.

Dr. Sarla Santwani is a distinguished educationist, academic leader and mentor with experience spanning India, the USA and international academia, including the University of Botswana, Africa. Her Ph.D. in Education and rich academic experience bring valuable perspective to the Trust’s grassroots journey.

Her thoughtful guidance helps us strengthen our initiatives, institutional capacity and commitment to meaningful, sustainable community engagement.

Ashwini’s journey—from grassroots governance and the SBI Youth for India Fellowship to founding Shahalakshya—shaped her belief in informed, empowered community participation. Her work received the Chanakya Award for Good Governance Yatra by Vision India in 2018, followed by recognition at the YFI Pitch Fest in 2024.
