Shri Laxman Yetala Shelke is the inspiration behind our commitment to community service and rural development. He served as the Sarpanch of Ukirda Chakla for 10 years, dedicating his time and efforts to the welfare and development of the village.
His years of public service taught our family the importance of selfless service, responsibility, honesty and compassion. He believed that meaningful development begins at the grassroots level and that every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity and build a better future.
His dedication to the people and his commitment to the progress of the village continue to inspire us. The values he lived by remain at the heart of the work carried forward through Shahalakshya Charitable Trust.

Dr. Sarla Santwani
Mentor | Educationist & Academic Leader
Dr. Sarla Santwani is a distinguished educationist, teacher educator, academic leader and mentor whose professional journey spans India, the USA and international academia, including the University of Botswana, Africa. She holds an M.A. in English Literature, M.Ed., Ph.D. in Education, M.A. in Theology from the USA, and a Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to education, leadership, communication and human development.
Her professional experience includes serving as a Senior Teacher Educator at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat University, Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University, and the University of Botswana, Africa. She has also held senior institutional leadership roles as Principal of Dr. H. R. Gajwani College of Education, Kachchh, Principal of K. J. Somaiya College of Education, Mumbai, and Head & Dean, Faculty of Education, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai.
As a mentor to Shahalakshya Charitable Trust, Dr. Santwani’s experience and perspective provide a valuable source of academic and strategic guidance. Her mentorship helps us strengthen our educational and grassroots initiatives, refine our institutional approach, and develop a more purposeful and inclusive framework for community engagement. Her guidance encourages the Trust to connect knowledge with action while building strong foundations for meaningful and sustainable social impact.

My journey into community development began at home. I grew up watching my father, Mr. Laxman Shelke, serve as the Sarpanch of our village, Ukirada Chakala, for more than a decade. His dedication to people and commitment to village development shaped my understanding of public service and taught me that meaningful change begins with listening to people and working together.
In 2012, I became involved in the Gram Panchayat as a member, gaining a closer understanding of grassroots governance and the challenges rural communities face in education, awareness, opportunities and participation.
A major turning point came in 2014, when I was selected for the SBI Youth for India Fellowship and worked on a Local Good Governance project in Madhya Pradesh. Working directly with communities strengthened my belief that lasting change happens when people have the knowledge, opportunities and platform to participate in their own development. This work was also recognized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2015.
These experiences inspired me to establish Shahalakshya Charitable Trust on 15 December 2017 in Beed district, guided by the belief: “सक्रीय नागरिक, सक्षम समाज, उन्नत राष्ट्र” — Active Citizens, Empowered Society, Progressive Nation.
My work in public service and good governance was further recognised with the Chanakya Award for Good Governance Yatra by Vision India in 2018. In 2024, I represented Shahalakshya Charitable Trust at the YFI Pitch Fest, where the Trust was awarded in recognition of its community-focused work and vision.
Through Shahalakshya, I aim to create meaningful opportunities in rural education, scholarships, digital learning, women empowerment, awareness, organic and sustainable farming, and environmental action—helping rural communities become more informed, confident and self-reliant.
Together, we look forward to establishing a Community Centre for rural Development—a welcoming space where people can learn, connect, share ideas and take action. I envision it as more than a building: a living space for learning, collaboration and action, where a student discovers an opportunity, a woman gains confidence, a farmer learns a better practice and communities come together to create solutions.
I believe development becomes meaningful when people are not simply beneficiaries, but active participants in creating their own future.
This is the journey I have begun, and this is the dream I hope we can build together.

2. Why we use it
We use submitted information to respond to enquiries, process volunteer or collaboration requests, administer donations and donor communications, issue applicable acknowledgements/receipts, coordinate programmes, and maintain necessary records.

We ask for clear consent before collecting personal information through these forms. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis, subject to information that must be retained to comply with law or to complete a transaction already initiated.

5. Service providers
Where an email-form service or payment gateway is used, relevant information may be processed by that provider only as needed to deliver the requested service. Payment credentials should remain with the authorised payment provider.
6. Security and retention
The Trust will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect submitted information. Information should be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, legal/accounting requirements, dispute handling, or legitimate record-keeping needs, and then securely deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
7. Your requests
For questions about your personal information, correction, withdrawal of consent, or deletion requests, contact admin@shahalakshya.com. Requests may be subject to lawful retention requirements.
8. Data protection and applicable law
The Trust will handle personal data in accordance with applicable Indian data-protection and privacy requirements, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable rules/provisions as and when they apply to the Trust and the relevant processing activity.
9. Data rights and complaints
Where applicable, individuals may request access to or correction of their personal information, withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis, or raise a privacy-related grievance by contacting admin@shahalakshya.com. Requests may be subject to identity verification and lawful retention requirements.

Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective Date: 30 August 2026
This policy applies to voluntary donations made to Shahalakshya Charitable Trust through this Website or an authorised payment gateway.
Important: Donations are voluntary charitable contributions and are not purchases of goods or services. Please verify the amount and donor details before confirming payment.
1. General rule
Once a donation has been successfully authorised and settled, it is ordinarily treated as a voluntary contribution to the charitable objects of the Trust and is generally non-refundable. Genuine exceptional cases may be reviewed under this policy.
2. Cases that may be considered
Duplicate or multiple debits caused by a technical/payment-processing error.
A clearly erroneous transaction, including an accidental incorrect amount, where supporting evidence is provided promptly.
An unauthorised transaction reported with appropriate supporting information and, where applicable, the donor’s bank/payment provider.
A contribution that cannot lawfully be accepted or retained by the Trust.
Other exceptional cases that the Trust considers appropriate, subject to applicable law.
3. Refund request
Write to admin@shahalakshya.com with the transaction/reference number, date, amount, donor name, registered email/mobile number and reason for the request. Proof of debit/error and identity verification may be required.
4. Verification and processing time
Every refund request is reviewed by the concerned Trust team. Where a case is verified as genuine and a refund is approved, the Trust may take approximately 20 to 30 days to complete verification and process the refund. Final crediting may take additional time depending on the payment gateway, bank, card issuer or financial institution.
5. Original payment route
Approved refunds will ordinarily be processed through the original payment method/source account, subject to payment-provider procedures and applicable law. The Trust will not normally refund an unrelated third-party account.
6. Receipts and tax documents
Where a receipt or tax-related document has already been issued or reported, any refund or adjustment will be subject to applicable tax law and reporting requirements. The donor may be required to return, cancel or otherwise account for an issued receipt/document where applicable.
7. Payment security
The Trust does not intend to store card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, OTPs, passwords or other payment credentials. Payment processing is handled by the authorised payment gateway under its own security, privacy and transaction terms.
8. Review decision
Submitting a refund request does not guarantee a refund. The Trust reserves the right to approve, reject, defer or request further verification, subject always to applicable law.
9. Contact
Never send passwords, UPI PINs, CVVs or OTPs by email or through Website forms.

4. No guaranteed outcomes
Photographs, testimonials, stories, statistics, targets and impact statements are provided for communication and information. They do not guarantee any particular outcome, service, benefit or result.
5. Donations
Donations are voluntary contributions toward the Trust’s charitable objects and activities. A donation does not create ownership, membership, employment, partnership, agency or beneficiary rights. A donor's preferred purpose is an indication of preference unless the Trust expressly agrees otherwise in writing. The Trust may allocate funds in accordance with its charitable objects and applicable law.
6. Tax benefits and receipts
Any tax deduction, exemption, receipt or certificate depends on the Trust’s actual registrations/approvals, donor eligibility, information provided and applicable law. The Website does not independently guarantee a tax benefit. Donors should rely on the official receipt/certificate and applicable law. Current Income Tax Department guidance states that Section 80G deductions are subject to statutory conditions, including that no deduction is allowed for cash donations exceeding ₹2,000. The Trust does not make any representation beyond its actual statutory status.
7. Foreign contributions and regulatory compliance
Donors must provide truthful information about the source and nature of funds. The Trust will accept contributions only where legally permitted and subject to its registrations/approvals. Where FCRA or another regulatory regime applies, the Trust may reject, return, hold or otherwise handle a contribution as required by law.
8. Third-party services
Payment gateways, hosting, email providers and other third parties may have separate terms and privacy policies. The Trust is not responsible for third-party outages, bank declines, gateway failures, network interruptions or service limitations beyond its reasonable control.
9. Intellectual property

measurement is separately disclosed in the Privacy Notice. The Trust does not intentionally

may route a request to the appropriate authorised person or service provider where required.
